So, I’m in my doctor’s office the other day and he gives me the bad news… I’m .1 point over the limit for type 2 diabetes. That’s right. I’m 6.5 and 6.4 is the top of the range for “normal”. I tried explaining that I’ve NEVER been normal (my kids will swear to that ๐ but he doesn’t buy it. So…. on to a diet plan Nonno goes! ๐ Rather than jump on to just any ol’ diet, I decided to get back on to the Zone diet. I had used it back in the day and was actually losing inches – you lose inches before you lose pounds (or kilos if you live outside the US). I figured if it worked then when I was only 200, it should work now that I’m no longer 200 ;p
For those who are not familiar with the Zone diet, it was developed by Dr. Barry Sears way back in the 80’s and 90’s. It works at the hormonal level and has been used successfully to control insulin as well as, insulin related irregularities. After reviewing all the available material, I opted for two of Dr. Sears’ books. They are: A Week in the Zone: A Quick Course in the Healthiest Diet for Youย and Zone Meals in Seconds: 150 Fast and Delicious Recipes for Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner (Zone (Regan)).
I’ll keep you posted.
